DESIGNER'S BIO:

Long-time North Texas resident, Don Stewart, earned an Associate in Applied Science in Architectural Technology from Rochester Institute of Technology.  But his love of building design began many years ago as a little deaf boy where he was always watching his hearing father doing commercial/residential construction.  So when it came time for college, majoring in architectural design was the obvious choice for him.

Now Don is the owner and principal building designer of DRS Designs, and is dedicated to designing custom homes, renovations or additions that function for everyone.  He provides customers with professional, detailed, easy-to-read, good quality computer generated drawings and other CAD drafting services and to build a respectable reputation as the most effective, reliable and impressive drafting service around.

VISION:

To be a well-renowned CAD drafting service, that provides impressive drawings and is recognized for applying the effectiveness of CAD solutions to all trades of work.

WHAT IS BUILDING DESIGNER?

Most of the homes in Texas are designed by building designers rather than architects. That means DRS Designs provide the drawings that become the "blueprints" from which a house is built.  I recommend that you hire an engineer to design your foundation and preferably also to design and specify your framing.  (We will, in most cases, provide you with a framing plan if required, but will not provide a foundation plan.)  You may also decide to hire an  interior designer to help you with finish selections.  But, our plans, along with an engineered foundation plan, are all you need to get your home priced, permitted and built. Professional Building Designer is not and does not represent to be a licensed architect. The designation Professional Building Designer (PBD) does not confer or imply any legal status in the State of Texas as a "registered professional". In Texas the practice of Commercial and Residential Design by a designer who is not a licensed architect is limited and permitted by exemptions to the Architect statute Chapter 1051.” When required by law, DRS Designs will collaborate with a licensed architect to provide design services and issue drawings for the project.
